Well it's a crime pretty much anywhere. The punishments can range from getting yelled at by the store owner and possibly banned from a store all the way to a felony conviction on your record and state prison time. One big factor is how much you stole (the value). Say you walked into Walmart in Massachusetts and stole a shirt that was worth $10 and they caught you and pressed charges. The worst you could get is a $250.00 fine and mark on your record if you were a first time offender of pretty theft. But let's say you stole a $300.00 ring then you could be charged with grand theft (In MA) then they could give you a max of 2 1/2 years in county jail and a $1,000.00 fine. BUT let's say you stole 100 of those rings = $30,000.00 then you would likely face grand larceny charges that could you up in state prison for 5 years and a fine of $25,000. Of course the punishment is up to a court of law regardless of how much you stole, probably the worst punishment for shoplifters is it goes on there record

Shoplifting is stealing so it is definitely not a good thing.
Just don't shop lift and you'll be fine. Shoplift anywhere and there will be negative consequences if caught - shoplifting is bad, wrong, and immoral. Shop lifting is stealing, thievery, and punishable by law wherever you are, no matter your age.
Some people get by with shop lifting all their life. Some people shop lift because do not have the money to buy the item.

There are people that squat four times their body weight and they have never been injured badly. If you do exercises with proper form, you will be able to gain muscle without injuring yourself.
In that both involve theft, yes. In any other way, no, not really.
