The Derby, The Oaks and the St Leger are three of the five Classic flat races for horses in Great Britain, the others being the 1,000 Guineas and the 2,000 Guineas.

The Derby (also known as the Epsom Derby) is run over a course of 1 mile 4 furlongs and 10 yards at Epsom racecourse on the first weekend of June. It is for three-year-old colts and fillies.

The Oaks is run over the same course but is only for three-year-old fillies. it si run on the Friday before the Derby.

The St Leger is run over 1 mile 6 furlongs and 132 yards and is also open to three-year-old colts and fillies. It is held at Doncaster in September.

The 1000 Guineas is run over a mile at Newmarket in April or May, and is open to three-year-old fillies.

The 2000 Guineas is also run over that course and is open to three-year-old colts and fillies, and is run in April or May.

There's no fun in playing it safe. Why not try something a little unhinged?
