It's a personal preference, but I definitely would wear a cup--so a jock is needed for that, if nothing else.
Yes! I play Rugby and always were a jockstrap and most of the time I wear a cup. It keeps our "junk" protected and in place.
yes,no, well maybe - an instructor's recommendation: I'm an active male rider/equestrian and junior instructor teaching English style hunter/jumper for both youth and adult riders. It should be noted the vast majority of students who ride English Style are girls and women; the guys who ride including myself are a distinct minority. Without proper support or protection, the male rider will likely expereince discomfort and occasional impaction to his genitals/testicles. And although, countless female instructors point to improper rider position in the saddle as the root cause; the resulting impaction from the occasional wrong bounce, can result in some pain to the male rider and may not be prevented in all cases.
Male riders should not wear boxer briefs or loose fitting briefs when riding! My 1st recommendation would be properly/close fitted riding pants that offer support. Although this does not completely eliminate the issue. An althletic jock under breeches will offer a much higher degree of protection.
For horse Jumping, I prefer a "padded soft cup" jockstrap under the riding breeches, but NOT a hard cup. Hard cups cut into groin area on repeasted impact and results in chaffing. Soft cups conform to the genitals and offer excellent support and protection and a better alternative to the hard cup for both boys, teens and adult riders. Brands I like: Shock Doctor soft cup #1 for kids, teens, and adults, and Bike softcup #2 option (runs very small in youth size (not recommended for teens).
With the right gear and protection Equestrian Sports can be enjoyed by boys/men and will likley increase particiation in this athletic sport
Definitely. And while many guys don't, I also wear an athletic cup inside my jockstrap. While I've never taken a hard hit to the groin, the fact that I'm wearing a cup makes me less self conscious and enables me to play harder.
And for the record, no one has ever said anything about my wearing a cup.
yes, jockstraps help. Some schools require them to be worn in sports and or in gym class
A cup is the hard protective cover you wear to protect against impact. A jockstrap can be used to hold the cup in place, or worn to support the genitals during sports.
Nothing to it....... Jocks can be worn any time you feel like it. Particularly if you are changing in the school gym! It's REAL macho........................not like these baggy bloomers of BOXER SHORTS most boys are made to wear.
As you know jockstraps are worn when playing sports so it is highly likely the coach and the team mates as well as your son knows to wear a jockstrap. However, if you are concerned just bring it up casually and ask if he needs to buy one. If he says yes then give him the money and send him to the store to purchase one.
Well, jocks wear them. (athletes) The correct term is athletic supporter. They have an elastic sack with elastic straps to hold them in place. They support a man's testicles - it can be painful if testicles go banging around during strenuous athletics and sports.
A cup is made to support and protect a man's testicles and penis. The cup needs to fit tight against his body to work properly. Therefore, a tight-fitting cup-jockstrap (with the cup inside of it) should always be worn when wearing a cup. In addition, tight-fitting support underwear or compression shorts can also be worn over the cup-jockstrap to more firmly hold the cup in place. The cup will protect and support the penis and the testicles and will enhance a man's appearance.
No,but if you are playing with your friends and having fun.Otherwise if you are playing an organized sport then you should have a specific type of clothing.
Sure. It's not going to hurt anything. I've worn them to bed.
Yes.
A bike jockey strap is another term for a jockstrap - an athletic supporter worn by men to support the genitals during strenuous exercise.

Boys should wear jockstraps for a few reasons. First, they need to wear them for any sports where a cup is needed, to prevent a direct hit. Also, boys should wear jockstraps for non-contact activities such as running or phys ed class because they support the genitals and prevent soreness or injuries such as testicular torsion (twisting).
