pros- you'll be learning something new, you get exercise, get stronger lungs, will have a longer amount of time in the water before you drown, you can save people from drowning, or teach others how to swim. Because if you know how to swim it is quite relaxing and being able to move in the water is actually kind of fun.

cons- you will learn you cannot breathe under water, this may cause coughing. opening your eyes under water might infect your eyes ( small or large) depending on your eye condition. chlorine might be irritable to the skin if there is too much of it in the water.. also it may put a dye in your clothes if it is too strong.
