The first games played in the AFL (Australian Football League) began at about 2.10 pm on Saturday 31 March 1990. Four matches took place that afternoon at various grounds in Melbourne.

Aussie rules started in 1858. But the AFL didn't start until 1897, the Essendon Bombers were the first team to win a grand final. The season starts at the end of Feburary or the start of March, the season ends on the last day of September were the 2 lucky teams fight it out for the holy grail!!!
