Depending on the type of Wrestling, the physics is based mostly on balance, and leverage applied with speed, and proper timing. It is advantages to be stronger than your opponent, but being technically more skilled can allow a slightly weaker opponent to defeat a stronger one. In wrestling, holds are designed to limit or restrict your opponent's ability to move freely.

The object is to avoid getting a hold put on you, while attempting to control your opponent's limbs and body in order to defeat them by points, or pin their shoulder blades to the mat. If you are caught in a hold, then you must know how to escape, which can often times be very difficult, and might require fighting or struggling hard. Victory in a match is often achieved by applying your strongest muscles to your opponent's weakest muscles and most vulnerable positions.
