A special noted baseball of interest was a baseball, although not used in an Official Major League game, was an Official 1917 -1925 National League John Heydler Baseball that featured an "American - France YMCA" stamp that was used by American serviceman stationed in Poitiers, France during the First World War. Red Stitched baseballsThe American League baseballs with the Reach Trademark had Red & Blue stitching, and the National League Spalding Trademark baseballs had Black & Red stitching up until about 1934-1935 when in both league started using only red stitching. Red stitching is still used today but occasional a commemorative baseball is used and they might use different color stitching. For example: A black stitching commemorative baseball was used on August 25, 1996 at Yankee Stadium in honor of Mickey Mantle. The commemorative baseballs must be approved by MLB.
Rawlings introduced the newly designed official Major League baseballs for the 2000 season that also features the MLB Silhouetted Batter logo. Changing from the Official American League, and Official National League baseballs, the Official Major League baseball replaced both balls that were used. 1950's Official Major League BaseballsThe value of the baseballs will vary depending on which league the baseballs are from, and the League president that is stamped on the ball.Official American League baseballs from the 1950's had a Reach Trademark and the William Harridge league president stamping until 1959 which had the stamping of League President Joe Cronin. They could have a value of about $200. for the 1959 baseballs and up to $400. for the older William Harridge stamped baseballs. The National League Spalding Trademark baseballs with the Ford Frick and Warren Giles stampings have a value of about $200.-$250. These price are general and will vary based on age and condition
