The answer would depend on a lot of things; Your boat, your sails, the weather.... 6-8 hours would be doable with a fast boat and an experienced crew. A dinghy with 60 feet of sail could take awhile while a fast boat with extremely favorable winds could do it in as little as 3 hours and possibly less! If you're planning the trip in a dinghy, I'd recommend a few days worth of food and water. People actually row kayaks and other small craft quite often. Winter is the best time. That area has a tendency to eat small boats in the summer and fall.
