Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson is a Scottish football manager, also a former player of the game. His is arguably more commonly known as Sir Alex or (affectionately)Fergie. He is currently managing Manchester United where his has been since 1986. He was born on 31 December 1941 in Glasgow, Scotland.

When he played football, his playing position is striker (attacker, forward). He has played for six professional clubs, all of them Scottish. These were:

• 1957-1960: Queen's Park: 31 appearances, 15 goals.
• 1960-1964: Saint Johnstone: 37 appearances, 19 goals
• 1964-1967: Dunfermline Athletic: 89 appearances, 66 goals
