There is no specific course for coaching but one needs to be certified to be a credible coach. if you really want to be a proficient coach,I advice getting classes in psychology of coaching, biomechanics, strength and conditioning, exercise physiology. Attend seminars on the latest on batting, pitching, softball drills, plays and proper fielding and of course always update yourself with the rules

To become a college softball coach, a bachelor's degree of some-sort is required, but the degree in general doesn't necessarily matter. Experience playing and an understanding of the game is extremely important. Most college softball coaches begin coaching at the high school level, before assisting at a division-2 or division-3 level to gain experience prior to becoming a head coach.
