Ruth hit a home run in the third inning of the game, also bringing in Charlie Gehringer, who had been walked, and giving the American League team a 3-0 lead. Frankie Frisch hit a solo home run in the sixth inning for the National League team, becoming the second player to hit a home run in an All-Star Game. The American League went on to win the game 4-2.
