Depends a bit if they're into strength sports, or endurance sports, and the phase of training they're in. Most will just about always eat quite a lot of carbohydrates(pasta, rice, potatoes etc, as that's the main fuel for our bodies.

During build-up training, even a endurance athlete may eat quite a lot of fat and protein, but when competition season comes along they'll cut back a bit to get to race weight.
