This is not an MMA vs Boxing post, its simply my honest opinion. Elite MMA fighters do compile the tremendous records that elite boxers do for several reasons.
1.The versatility of the sport is much greater. In boxing the winner is usually (duh) the better boxer. In MMA the winner could be the better boxer, wrestler, kickboxer, bjj player, etc depending on where the fight winds up. More overall surprises.
2.Its a newer sport and a smaller community. MMA fighters encounter each other and fighters they have each fought more often than boxers.
3. Less record protecting. You don't see top guys in mma getting as many fights with nobodies as boxers (not saying that it doesn't ever happen).
MMA is really really Extreme! Not only that but you will find mma fighters with amazing fighting styles such as boxing, karate, muay thai, kickboxing, wrestling, sambo, brazilian jiu-jitsu, and freestyle. so yeah preety cool
The best place for bjj and mma in Edmonton is Arashido on Stalbert trail right by nelsons lumber they have an Awsome bjj instructor and great mma training I have trained there and it's my favorite. There is also cardinals gym which I heard is very good and alot of good pro fighters train there. Then there is Hyabusa in Stalbert which is probably the best bang for your buck as it is alot cheaper and they train alot of great pro fighters who you can also train with but if u don't mind paying 145 a month I'd recommend Arashido cause no matter where the fighters train I see most of them at Arashido sharpening there skills in bjj with master mike and even they say he is the best in the city
Two of the fighters with the highest fight totals are Dan Severn(109) and Travis Fulton (245). But since MMA was underground for a while it is hard to determine many older fighters actual fight totals. A website to check on most records is called www.sherdog.com. They have a fighter finder that is hands down the best in the world for mma fighters.
When it comes to MMA, America is the leading nation. The well-known organization UFC is also from the United States. Also, America is filled with so many training centers for MMA training so it is pretty obvious that the craze of MMA is at its peak in the US.
Both sports are generally safe, if you follow proper safety requirements. However, more injuries are developed by free-fist fighting rather than gloved fighting. So in essence, UFC is a little more dangerous. Though Boxing is known to have more aggresive fighters, UFC has had more serious injuries.
MMA is more entertaining and fun to watch because it has more variations so there are so many ways MMA fighters can finish a fight which excites the viewers a lot. They can use takedowns, submissions, kicks, and punches to cause damage and win fights.
So that fighters can test there skills against different styles so we would see what and whos style is the best, in mma.

no. If you find one like that its not gonna stay that way for long. because someone that trains mma could go into that and have a huge advantage over a boxer or muy tai fighter.
amateur fighters don't get paid.. when your getting paid your a professional.. amateur is just to test your skills get noticed and it doesn't count on your pro fight record so if your gonna lose you wanna do it as an amateur.
Compared to boxers, even big league MMA fighters are poorly paid; the champions will see "only" half a million dollars a year IF they can hold on to their belt. By sharp contrast, even the lightweight boxing champion will see 5 million dollars a year, the heavyweights, which is the "division everybody watches," can get up to 20 million per fight. In MMA the most the little leaguers will see is maybe 500 bucks a month if they happen to be a local champ. A lot of "small time" MMA fighters, often have to do something else for a living, only the big leaguers can do it for a living. In fact, even in the over 200 lbs weight division, which is the weight division MMA fans watch the most, a champion has yet to break a million dollar gate. If you win the championship belt in MMA, I think the prize money is $250,000, and you continue being paid that much for every fight you defend your crown. The big money is in fact in Japan; a PRIDE champion, can earn up to 2 million per year, because Judo is so widespread in Japan, Japanese T.V. viewers "know how to watch" an MMA fight so many of the grappling moves are similar. If you are serious about money, the biggest league in MMA is PRIDE, not the UFC. Most of the PRIDE fighters who have transitioned to the UFC are aging, and past their prime, and the only reason they switched to the UFC, and UFC fighters SHOULD find this insulting, is because now that they're older and weaker, they need to "take it easy." PRIDE fighters switch to the UFC for the same reason old tigers become man eaters; men are easier to kill than larger prey. In the PRIDE arena, it isn't the same fight; because the stakes are higher, the fighters are a lot more vicious. As one boxing cliche goes "the more a man gets paid, the harder he hits."
Yes He is but it is unknown where he will take it.He is a huge fan of MMA so that's possibly the motive for his training.
