You learn the same things you learn in most Martial Arts. Patience, as well as improvement of physical ability in stamina and flexibility are high on the list. Grappling is an important aspect of the art.

Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu (juijitsu is an older incorrect usage) is the parent art of several Japanese martial arts such as; Aikikai Aikido, Hakko Ryu, Shorinji Kempo, Hakuho Ryu and Daito Ryu Aikibudo. Though Hapkido seems to share similar techniques with Aiki arts there is no real evidence it has any connect to either Aikido, which Hapkido is just the Korean reading of the Kanji for Aikido, or Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu. Hapkido includes the striking elements of Tae Kwon Do.
