Bottom line is that it is only as good as you make it. Personally, I have better things to do with my money than purchase remote learning tapes of Martial Arts, particularly when I have highly skilled teachers in my area.
Effective? Until you have to use them in a fight, you'll never really know. I would venture to say their techniques are as effective as any others that can be learned from a wide variety of sources. There are only certain ways the human body can work and for this reason most martial arts styles incorporate a great deal of the same techniques.
I've seen advertisements and discussions for TFT on numerous web sites. Like all commercial endeavors, the advertising is doing its best to convience you that you have to have this now and anything else is a waste of money and time. All of the discussions seem to be started by someone that is geeked up about TFT and feels that everyone should take the course as soon as possible. That shouts 'shill' or plant to me. And they are heavily countered by whomever else is there.
My name is Keith Boynton, I am 56 years old, and I been around the self-defense industry since 1972. It depends on what you mean by work out. Martial Arts training and working out can be combined with aerobic training as well as weight training. It really depends on your fitness level. It is never a good idea to enter the training area overly tired and unable to focus. Being warmed up and loose is a good thing. I used to swim for 20 to 30 minutes before a training session. It would loosen me up and get my blood circulating strongly. Either way, you should take the time to stretch after class and drink plenty of water. It will do a lot to improve your ability to recover and come back the next day.
you can find them at walmart or target for really good prices :]
