Soccer is considered more popular because more people play it around the world. American football is not played by youth groups except in Canada and the US, limiting its appeal in countries outside of North America. In addition soccer is less equipment intensive so the cost to play the game is substantially lower than it is for American Football.
Football is probably more popular. (That's soccer, not American Football!)
In the USA you have American football and soccer.
Soccer (not American football) is very popular in Germany and it has several outstanding soccer clubs.
Soccer but they call it football
Football (Soccer if you're American)
Because football is its original name, as the ball is kicked by the foot. It is called football around the vast majority of the world, it is only in America where 'American Football' is so popular it is called soccer. Soccer is sometimes used in Australia due to Australian Rules Football. Both American and Australian Rules football are variations of soccer (football) hence there names.
Quite the contrary. Most popular team sports today evolved from soccer, not the other way around. This includes American football. That is how our nations most popular sport got it's name. It started as football (soccer) which is the common term around the world. Soccer can be traced to the year 200 AD in China.
Football (Soccer if you're American)
popular? American football, soccer, tennis...
American Football holds the most popularity in the United States, while Football (Soccer) holds among the least of organized professional sports leagues. Around the world, Soccer holds a very high level of popularity while American Football does not.
In the world? The most popular sport is football. (Or call it soccer, if you are an American.)
Football is the common name given to whatever form of football is most popular in that country, including Association Football (soccer), Rugby, American Football (NFL), and so on. It so happens that soccer is the football game most popular in Kerala and in many other countries.
