Gaylord Perry in 1991.
Four former Mariners are in the Baseball Hall of Fame:
1) Gaylord Perry - played for the Mariners in 1982 and 1983.
2) Goose Gossage - played for the Mariners in 1994.
3) Rickey Henderson - played for the Mariners in 2000.
4) Dick Williams - managed the Mariners from 1986-1988.
All four are in the Hall 'wearing' a hat of a different team. No player that spent the majority of his career with the Mariners is in the Hall.
Hopefully, that soon will change. Edgar Martinez will be eligible starting with the 2010 vote. He has one serious road block in his way ... there are no DHs in the Hall and he spent the final 10 seasons of his career as a DH. He began his career as a third baseman and, admittedly, was a poor fielder with a career .946 fielding percentage in his 563 games at third.
But his offensive prowess was top notch. He led the American League in batting average twice, RBIs once, on base percentage three times, and doubles twice. He had a career batting average of .312, 2237 career base hits, four seasons of over 100 base on balls, 309 career home runs, 514 career doubles, and 1261 career RBIs. On top of that, he was a helluva nice guy.
Whether a DH will ever be elected to the Hall is questionable. But if there is, no DH deserves to be there more than Edgar Martinez.

If you mean the Baseball Hall of Fame, all players elected to the H of F that year, were elected by the Veterans Committe, and only one Black player was elected by the Special Committee on Negro Leagues, Satchel Paige. Regular election to the H of F were elected by the Baseball Writers Association of America, and no modern day player received enough votes to be elected that year.
Johnny Bench was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989, his first elegible year, appearing on 96% of the ballots.
