∙ 11y agoIf you mean the Baseball Hall of Fame, all players elected to the H of F that year, were elected by the Veterans Committe, and only one Black player was elected by the Special Committee on Negro Leagues, Satchel Paige. Regular election to the H of F were elected by the Baseball Writers Association of America, and no modern day player received enough votes to be elected that year.

∙ 12y agoThe first black baseball player elected to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown was Jackie Robinson in 1962. In 1971, Satchel Paige was the first elected primarily for his career in the Negro Leagues.

The first African American elected to the Hall of Fame that played his entire career in the American League was Reggie Jackson who was elected in 1993. Other African Americans who played in the American League and were elected before Jackson: 1) Satchel Paige played six seasons with the Indians, Browns, and Athletics. He was elected in 1971. Paige made the Hall more for his time in the Negro Leagues than he did for his time in the American League.2) Frank Robinson played 10 seasons with the Orioles, Angels, and Indians. He was elected in 1982. However, he spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Reds.3) Ferguson Jenkins played eight seasons in the American League with the Red Sox and Rangers. He was elected in 1991. However, he is best known for winning 20+ games 6 consecutive seasons while pitching for the Chicago Cubs.
