Phar Lap was a mighty Australian racehorse. He is believed to of been poisoned by excessive amounts of arsenic. many race fans believe that, when Phar Lap travelled to America to compete, the Americans poisoned him, however there is no evidence. Race trainers and grooms used to give racehorses small amounts of arsenic to the horse in their feed to make the coat shine.

Is pharlap the fastest horse in the world?

Yes. Everyone is now saying "black cavier is faster than pharlap". THEY ARE WRONG!!The only reason that black cavier is known to be faster than pharlap is because he has won more awards than pharlap but the only reason that pharlap won less was because pharlap was poisoned and if that didn't happen i can assure that pharlap would still have more awards than black cavier. I'm not saying that black cavier is slow and I'm happy that he is winning so much but i get upset when i walk past people in the street and they say "Black cavier is so much faster than pharlap ,when he's not. and someday he might be but nowadays everyone has forgot about the tragic day pharlap died and why...

Why is pharlap famous?

Phar Lap was Australia's Seabiscuit. He was a national hero in that tiny island continent in the 1930s, winning 36 of his 41 races there. He then came to North America and won a distinguished race in Mexico. A few weeks later, he died from eating poisonous herbs while grazing, and there was a suspicion that he was poisoned by enemies who did not want to see him win more races in North America. http://museumvictoria.com.au/PharLap/
