AnswerSatchel Paige (P), played at age 59 for the Kansas City Athletics in 1965. Although, he did spend most of his time playing in the Negro leagues. Saturnino Orestes Armas Miñoso Arrieta more commonly referred to as Minnie Miñoso (OF), played at age 57 in 1980, and Nick Altrock (P) played at 57 as well, back in 1933.

Julio Franco of the New York Mets, whose age is listed at 48, but, some speculate, he may be older. Julio Franco retired after the 2007 season and is no longer an active player. The active player who is the oldest is pitcher Jamie Moyer of the Phillies who is 46.

Assuming that 44-year-old punter Jeff Feagles stays retired, that honor should go to Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. The Minnesota Vikings quarterback, who has played 19 seasons and will turn 41 in October, 2010, also happens to be the first known active NFL player to become a grandfather. Favre, however, hasn't announced if he will return for another season.
