Through the 2008 season, the most hits by a batter in an inning in MLB history is 3 and done by Tom Burns, Ned Williamson, and Fred Pfeffer of the Chicago White Stockings in the same game in 1883, Gene Stephens of the Boston Red Sox in 1953, and Johnny Damon of the Boston Red Sox in 2004. In the game where the three White Stockings each got three hits in an inning, the White Stockings defeated the Detroit Wolverines, 26-6.
