Mark Grace wore the numbers 28, and 17 during his rookie season with the Chicago Cubs in 1988, and wore the number 17 the rest of his career.
The Cubs have retired the number of two of their best pitchers. No. 31 was worn by Fergie Jenkins and Greg Maddux. Maddux won his first Cy Young award in 1992 with the Cubs. Jenkins won the Cy Young in 1971. They are considered two of the Cubs best pitchers.
Since Ryan Dempster joined the Cubs in 2004 he has worn #46.
Manny Trillo, one of my favorite Cubs, wore it both times he played for them.
the number 3 was retired by Bronko Nagurski who played from 1930-1943 not sure who else wore this number
4 numbers have been retired by the Mets; 37, 14, 41 and 42. Casey Stengel's 37 was retired on September 2, 1965. Gil Hodges 14 was retired on June 9, 1973. Tom Seaver's 41 was retired on July 24, 1988. Jackie Robinson's 42 was retired by the MLB on April 15, 1997. Numbers 8, 24, and 31 aren't retired but aren't worn. Gary Carter's number 8 hasn't been worn since his induction to the Hall of Fame in 2003. Willie Mays's 24 has only been worn twice since his retirement in 1973 (Kelvin Torve in 1990 by mistake and Rickey Henderson in 1999-00 and 2007). Mike Piazza's 31 hasn't been worn since his departure from the Mets after the 2005 season.
According to http://www.cubsbythenumbers.com/cubs-all-time.html, no Cubs player has worn jersey number 66.
Johnny Unitas wore it, and then they retired the number after he retired.
Nobody besides Michael Jordan.

No as the Cowboys do not retire Jerseys, but no one has worn no.8 ever since Troy retired.
There is no player currently wearing number 17. The last player on the Chicago Bulls to wear number 17 was Ricky Blanton in 1993.
