Whoever did not win the ball toss at the beginning of the game
The team that lost the coin toss at the beginning of the game would get first choice to start the second half. It would be their choice to defend a goal, kickoff, or receive the ball.
It all depends on who got the basketball at the beginning of the game. Whoever gets the ball after the jump ball also gets it fourth quarter. The other team gets the ball second and third quarter. Hope I answered your question! Good luck!
The rule is the team that kicked the ball off to start the first half, gets possession of the ball in the beginning of the second half.*****Actually, I believe that the rule is slightly different from that. The team that wins the toss at the beginning of the game has the choice of kick, receive, choose a goal to defend or defer their first choice until the second half. When they have chosen, then the other team has the remaining choice.Occasionally, with a strong wind blowing, you will see the team that wins the toss choose to defend the goal that will allow them to kick with the wind.At the beginning of the second half, there are the same choices except, of course, a team cannot defer. The team that lost the coin toss gets the first choice in the second half.
An onside kick by the New Orleans Saints was made to Start the second half of Super Bowl XLIV. The Saint retrieved the ball.
Anytime you have the ball (offense) the 3 second violation can be called.
The first half is at the beginning of the book, and the second half at the end.
The team that did not kick off at the start of the game kicks off at the start of the second half. If you win the toss at the beginning of the game and elect to receive that means you will be kicking off in the second half.
the team who did not get the tipoff in the 1st half
Second half of August, through to the beginning of Autumn.
At the start of the game you actually have 3 options if you win the toss...1. Receive the ball, 2. Kick the ball, 3. Defer to the second half (note: although a choice...choosing to kick in the first half is not recommended. By making a choice to kick, the other team then gets the same choice in the second half...which most coaches (minus Marty Mornhinweg...see Detroit vs. Chicago 2002 OT game) will choose to receive the ball. So in essence you would be kicking twice. If you choose to defer, ultimately you are postponing your decision until the second half. Hope this helps...
the Pats did. Giants called tails and it was heads, but Pats deferred to receive the ball in the second half. Hence they kicked the ball off to the receiving Giants to start superbowl 46.
The first half of the series starts on April 23rd, it will then take a break and the second half will start in September.
