Best Answer

The New York Yankees and the Milwaukee Braves, which were the same two teams that played in the World Series the previous year, 1957.

In the 1958 World Series, the Yankees defeated the Braves 4 games to 3, with Yankee pitcher Bob Turley being named the series Most Valuable Player. After being the losing pitcher in Game 2, Turley came back in Game 5 and threw a complete game shutout. In Game 6, he came in as a reliever with two outs and two runners on in the bottom of the tenth inning, with the Yankees leading by a score of 4-3. He got Frank Torre out on a deep fly ball to end the game, and record a save. Turley pitched again in Game 7, this time coming into the game in relief of starter Don Larsen in the third inning. Turley pitched the rest of the game, which the Yankees won 6-2 to win the series.
