It's a toss-up... the umpire holds the ball between the two players and then when the umpire blows the whistle they can grab the ball.
you stand straight with your hands beside you bodies until the umpire blows their whistle and drops the ball.
Prior to a game of netball, there will be a toss. The winners of the toss will usually take the centre throw. A game of netball then starts when the winning team's centre (C) has stepped into the circle and thrown the netball. Also all players must be in the correct positions and no feel in the semi circle or into the middle third, except for the centers(c)
No particular team player is responsible for the toss, but the captain of the netball team

a toss up is used when there is a fight for the ball and umpire cant call whos it is. So they have a toss up against the two people who were fighting over the ball. They then have to face the way there shooting so far apart from each other with there hands beside there sides/
A toss coin is held to decide which side of the court is given to which player. But, the player loses the opportunity to serve first. The player who wins the toss gets to decide which side of the court he/she wants. But the other player gets to serve first in turn.
If for example there is mutual offside, or mutual conatct then the umpire will do a toss up. this consists of the two players facing each other standing 1 metre apart with their hands by their sides. the unpire will then throw up the ball between them they then have to try and catch the ball, whoever catches it first plays on the ball :)
In a match, Netball umpires control the half of the court to their right and the entire sideline which they are placed on. They follow the ball as it travels down the court and pull up any broken rules or mistakes the players make by blowing their whistle and awarding a penalty or free pass. When the ball is shot through the hoop the umpire blows their whistle to signify a goal and at the start of every centre if the last goal was scored in their half they blow the whistle to start play. At the start of the game or at the start of a new quarter the umpire who is controlling play in the half where the ball is headed blows the whistle. If two players catch the ball at the same time the umpire decides possession by doing a toss up and if a player is injured during play they signal to the umpire who calls time and halts the game for up to two minutes. Before the start of the game it is necessary for the umpires to check the length of the player's nails and make sure none of them are wearing jewellrey.
the ball has gone out so it will be a sideline pass, to the other team. if you cant see clearly who it came off it will be a toss up.
when there are two players, both on opposite teams, fighting over the ball with both people holding onto the ball. And also when they both picked up the ball at the same time, otherwise the player that picked up the ball/touched the ball second will be called for contact.
Usually a toss up would be done or play could continue normal if neither player affected the game. Just depends on the umpire, they might even see only one player go offside and award a free pass to the opposing team.
