Obviously, the question of who is "the best conference in College Football" is based on opinion along with review of certain historical facts in this sport.

Some say it's about to be the PAC-10 if Texas goes there.

Others say, even with Texas, the Pac 10 is "lame". The best conference in college football is, by far, the SEC. Look at the facts:

• Since the inception of the BCS, SEC teams have won 6 of 12 national championships.
• No other conference has won more than 2 national championships (and only one conference, the Big 12, has won more than 1 national championship).
• Both Divisions of the SEC have won more national championships (3) than any other conference. So not only is the SEC better than any other conference, both HALVES of the SEC are better than any ENTIRE conference.
• LSU and Florida have both won two national championships, which is better than any other team in the country, and equal to the highest total by any other entire conference. So not only is the SEC better than any other conference; not only are both halves of the SEC better than any other conference, but two individual teams in the SEC are better than all but one other ENTIRE CONFERENCE, and tied with that one.
• Here's the kicker. No SEC team has ever LOST a national championship game. I am completely convinced that the only reason the SEC has not won EVERY national championship since the inception of the BCS is that it has not been represented in all of them. What would have happened if Auburn had not been passed over in 2004? And even in years when no SEC team goes undefeated, or has less than 2 losses - that's just because the SEC has so many strong teams that it is nearly impossible to go undefeated, or even have just one loss. The SEC champion would have easily defeated the so-called "national champion" in those years, but was shut out because they had a loss or two.

There's a lot of discussion about going to a playoff system in Division 1A football. Unless you're an SEC fan, that is the LAST thing you want because, the SEC would own the crystal football.

If Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and OSU had to beat an SEC team somewhere en route to the national championship, they would be out of luck. The only way any team outside of the SEC would ever win a national championship in a playoff system is if two SEC teams made it to the playoffs, and faced each other beforethe championship game, and beat each other up so badly that the winner had half their roster injured for the next game (which happens a lot in SEC games). After 10 years of the SEC owning the crystal football, the rest of the country would have to admit that they can't play football.
