You have Regular stance which is when your Left Foot is in Front and your Right foot on the Tail of the Snowboard. Then you have a Goofy stance which is when your Right foot is in front and your Left foot on the Tail of the Snowboard.
yes you can
The front foot steers the board using torsional twist. You should try to keep your weight even on both feet.
it all depends on if you have more balance with your right or left foot forward. some people feel it equally comfortable making it hard to choose, when this happens think of what foot you put forward if you are about to fall and use that foot back. it will increase your balance.

Answerit isn't true because when you snowboard you improve your sense of balance. That balance you need for surfing as well. the only difference would be that with snowboarding, you kick out your back foot to turn, and with surfing, you use your front foot and shift your weight accordingly. it just takes a little longer for most people to realize that it is usually easier, in this scenario, to surf switch (i.e. snowboard goofy, surf reg. and vice versa) when first learning.
If you're talking about the nose diving in powder. Try riding a rocker. and or pull up on your front foot to put the pressure on your back.
for a front side rodeo you are going to throw your back shoulder towards your front foot. for a back side rodeo throw your front shoulder towards your back foot. these two tips should initiate your spin. from there you should perfect this spin on a trampoline to ensure that you can complete the full 540 degree rotation on the snow.
some snowboards it doesn't matter, but some snowboards have specific ends. the end of the snowboard that is slightly more raised from the ground than the other is generally the front. or the more rounded end goes to the back with the more oval shaped end at the front. but the biggest tell is the design on the snowboard. if you stand the snowboard up and the design, or any of the writing on the board is the right way up, then the top of the board is the front.
You stand with equal weight on both feet, avoid twisting your body. You will steer by lifting up your front foot toe edge to go to the heel side and lifting up your front foot heel to go to the toe side. The best way is to take a lesson with a certified pro.
