Yes, I would say so. A finished barrel horse can cost anywhere from $6000 to $12000. You need a good barrel racing saddle and boots for your horse. Not to mention headstalls and bits. Also, barrel racers need a trailer to haul their horse or horses to events. A small trailer an cost $10,000. Most people have matchy matchy boots and saddle pads and outfits too but I'm not really into that.

it takes lots of time and comitment to own a horse. you have to be dedicated to feed your horse twice a day, excersize, and groom your horse on a daily basis. it may take lots of money and time, so if you arent ready, please dont buy a horse.

Buying a horse involves caring for it on a daily basis and paying money every month to have it boarded somewhere. You local stable will provide you with a "lesson horse" at usually no extra cost.
