Right on the top of the Field Hockey stick there's usually a flat circle whose diameter is wide enough to write your initials on. If there's something already printed on it, stick a round sticker small enough to fit over the circle to then write your initials on.

What is a self pass in field hockey?

A push pass is where you put the field hockey stick against the ball (as if you had just stopped it) and shove it towards the desired target. When the ball is moving, you should end with your stick facing the target. It should not make a noise like a slap shot does, since you never actually hit the ball.

How do you receive a ball in field hockey?

I am a field hockey player and i know of three ways to recieve a ball. One- lay the stick completly on the ground but only the edge, make sure the curved end is not on the ground. 2- turn ur stick to reverse stick and then put it down on the edge so the end of the curve is touching the ground and some of the handel. 3- For a more advanced stop, put ur stick straight, and lean it forward just a little

Why is your composite field hockey stick getting holes or dents in the J part?

Most likely from hacking. Hacking is when you "hack" your stick into someone else's stick or they "hack" you. The best way to help prevent this is to put a special tape around the hook of the stick to prevent damage.

Yes, Tacki-mac produces a rubber sleeve called a Command Grip that can be used for the upper shaft of your stick instead of hockey tape. They also produce a product called Attack Pad which replaces hockey tape for the blade of your stick.

What are some similarities and differences between ice hockey and field hockey?

Playing surface: field hockey is played on fields, ice hockey is played on ice. Goals in field hockey are much larger. The field is much larger than the rink, almost 50% further in both dircetions.Equipment: field hockey players rarely wear more than a mouthguard and shinguards, while goalkeepers wear some extra padding and a helmet. Ice hockey players wear a lot of protective equipment, including shin- and armpads, helmets, mouthgaurds, chestpads and gloves. The shape and size of the stick in each sport is also markedly different.Teams: ice hockey teams can have 20 players, of which 6 play on the ice at any time. Field hockey teams can have 16 players, of which 11 can play on the field at any time. There is no specification on what positions must be included in a field hockey team, while ice hockey rosters have certain proportions that must be either goalkeepers or onice players.Rules: ice hockey is considerably more restrictive in how a game may be played, such as restrictions on where the puck can be passed, but comparatively quite violent - bodychecking is allowed as well as other forms of physical contact, and fighting is not considered a major violation. In field hockey, physical contact is very rare, and only occurs in normal contest for the ball (not as an option for making a tackle). the ball can be played in virtually any way that does not cause danger.Gameplay: ice hockey features a lot more time stoppages, like many north American sports, than field hockey. A field hockey team cannot choose when they have a timeout either. The ways of moving a ball/puck around are very different; in ice hockey, players may use their hands or skates, while in field hockey, the ball is often raised high above the surface or juggled on the stick.

Is field hockey a hard sport to play?

Person 1 Field hockey is just as hard as any sport, it all depends on the amount of dedication you put into it. Person 2 I've played some field hockey and a lot of ice hockey, and I found field hockey much harder. For one thing, it is unfair to those of us who are left shots. Because of the types of sticks in field hockey, we all had to shoot right. Also, a ball on grass is much harder to handle than a puck on ice. I didn't enjoy playing field hockey at all.

How does a field hockey stick get flex?

The materials a hockey stick is made of are naturally springy or flexible. Each one ranges from quite firm and stiff to very giving in nature. The combination they are in, and how they are put together, controls how flexible a stick will be and where it wil bend to any amount. For field hockey sticks, the permanent bend is often built in as part of the molding and manufacture process; this bow can increase with age, and different bows are used in different sticks. The oldest of bowed sticks were originally straight, but gained a bow through age and exposure (the weather and conditions would warp the wood).
