Ships are built in shipyards. Shipyards are located in most large seaports so that when a ship is built it can safely navigate to sea.
Sailing ships had rudders at the stern.
Quite sturdy & efficient, but not built for comfort...
The ships are built in drydocks which can be flooded to float the ships out.
