Miller has been a regular presence in the Scotland squad since making his international debut, under Craig Brown, on 25 April 2001. He was a 80th minute substitute for Scott Booth during a 1-1 friendly match against Poland.[80] He had to wait nearly two years for his second appearance when he was selected for a Euro 2004 qualifier by the then manager Berti Vogts in March 2003. Miller started the match at home to Iceland and scored within the first ten minutes to give Scotland the lead.[81]
