No you don't. All you have to do is go to a resort or a local place that rents out snowboards (or if you have your own) and pay for a lift ticket or the equipment and just get out the are start. You are gonna have to practice but you'll get used to it and soon you will being do tricks or going down big hills with ease.

You do not have to start training fish with a goldfish. Any fish will do but most people start with goldfish because they are cheap. All fish will learn the tricks but other fish are usually easier to learn about the tricks because goldfish have very short memory's.
