Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is famous for its architecture, artists and parks and museums. Parc Guell is a famous park situated on the hill of el Camel in the Gracia district of Barcelona. It was designed by Catalan Architect Antoni Gaudi and built in 1900 to 1914. Tourists can access it by city buses, tourist buses and subways. The entrance to the park is free but entrance inside Gaudi's house "la Torre Rosa" which contains the furniture he designed has an entrance fee. There is a reduced rate however, for those wishing to visit both Parc Guell and La Sagrada Familia. The focal point of the park is the main terrace, surrounded by a long bench in the form of a sea serpent. There is a large cross at the Park's high point which offers the most complete view of Barcelona and the bay. Montjuic is Barcelona's largest park. It is a large rounded hill with the Castell de Montjuic situated on the top. The Montjuic was selected as the site for several venues of the 1992 summer Olympics. It is the location of the Olympic Stadium as well as the the Museu Nacional d;Art de Catalunya, an extensive showcase of Catalan painting and sculpture. Placa Catalunya is a large square in the centre of Barcelona, where all the important streets and avenues meet. It is a large area famous for it's statues, sculptures and proximity to the best shopping centres and historic sites. The Hotel Arts and the Torre Mapfre are the tallest buildings in Spain with 43 stories. They are located on the sea front of Barcelona and are surrounded by restaurants and shops. La Sagrada Familia is possibly the most famous touristic site in Spain. Construction began in 1882 and still continues today. The massive Roman Catholic church was created by Antoni Gaudi, who dedicated 40 years of his life to it. Parts of the unfinished church and Gaudi's models were destroyed in the civil war. There has been serious controversy on how exactly architects should finish the structure. Casa Mila is another one of Gaudi's famous structures. It is better known as La Pedrera (The Quarry). It was built for the married couple, Rosario Segimon and Pere Milà in 1912.
