USA is leading the all time summer Olympics medal tally with 2188 medals(This does not include medals won at 2008 summer Olympics)
India has only 83 Athletes in competition for the 2012 Summer Olympics and they were not already known as the world's best in there field. They already have as many medals as they won in 2008 and there is still a week to go in the games. You could say they are ahead and not behind because in 2004 they only won a silver medal with 73 athletes. They currently hold a medal ranking of 41 on August 5 2012.
I's say Sydney 2000. OI think we finished 4th or 5th then.
