As of June 9, 2008 the Finnish Olympic Committee has not selected the entire team. Currently, there are athletes that will compete in athletics, diving, judo, rowing, shooting, swimming, tennis, Wrestling, equestrian, Badminton, and canoeing. 35 athletes have been selected so far and another 25-35 are expected to be selected. The final selection date will be July 21.

Finland had 55 athletes and competed in 13 sports and entered over 50 events winning a Silver and 2 Bronze Medals.
The sports that Australia did not compete in at the 2008 Summer Olympics were handball and baseball.

There are winter Olympics so people with winter sports interest can compete in the games. eg. Skiing, figure skating. Summer Olympics so people with summer sports can compete in the games. Gymnastics, swimming...ect.
The only sport the US does not compete in at any Summer Olympics (including 2008 and the upcoming 2012) is handball.

There are many different sports that compete at the Olympics. Such sports are basketball, soccer, volleyball, field and track and swimming.
So athletes who cannot compete in the regular Olympics can compete. They get the same sense of accomplishment, recognition and satisfaction as athletes in the regular Olympics, and people think it's important that they should be able to.
France sent 323 athletes to the 2008 Olympics to compete in 23 sports.
