Compete is a verb. If I COMPETE against you, competing is what i am doing against you, so it's a verb.
That was the 1956 Games in Melbourne.
Melbourne Tigers was created in 1931.
The verb for competitive is compete. As in "to compete for something" or "to compete against someone".
