well it depends on what position they play. forward: move ball towards goal on other teams half of the field, in order to eventually score a goal. mid-field: play wherever the ball is, but usually try to stay towards the center of the field, hence the name, mid-field. stopper: tries to stop the ball before the player trying to score gets too far. then, passes it up to mid-fielders of forwards. sweeper: has the stoppers back. is the next person who should go after it if the stopper fails. defender/fullback: defends the goal. takes the ball from opposing forwards or mid-fielders, and boots it up to their mid-fielders or forwards. goalie: is the last resort if the other team gets past everyone else. this is the only player that can use their hands. they usually stay in the goal box if they can, but sometimes they need to move out.
