the first Lacrosse sticks were made of wood. Modern lacrosse sticks are made of either composite or metal To improve this answer: Lacrosse sticks are made of many materials. Most common lacrosse sticks are made of aluminum or an aluminum titanium alloy. However, there are lacrosse players that prefer to use wooden sticks for their reliability and higher weight, and there are composite fiberglass and plastic shafts that are very light and very strong as well.

This is from wikipedia.org The actual shaft is the part you hold, metal or composite generally. Shafts are made from alloys, titanium, titanium mixes, and copusites like carbon fiber and fiber glass with coatings.

∙ 11y agoIt's all opinion, but here's my choices:
Best Light-Weight Shaft----- Scandium Pro
Best Smooth Shaft----------- Sc-Ti Pro
Best Gripped Shaft----------- Swizzle
Worst Shaft----------- AL 6000 Pro. I guess beginners can use it though.
There's many more good shafts but this is what comes to mind for me.
Scandium Pro is good but for less $$$ and the same great befits of scandium you can get a Rainier Lacrosse Scandium Elite. It's new to the market but after 3 games I'm still loving it!!

∙ 12y agoI personlay like the brine F15 shaft. It's light weight, durable and is pretty cheap. I've had mine for 1 year and it has plenty of tiny dings in it but no major dents. Not even a small dent in it either. Or the Maverick wonderboy that is good too.

the bamshaft it is made of bamboo its 180$
the stx amp is the worst lacrosse shaft
no you don't tape the top of your lacrosse shaft........you just tape just lower region for better grip and reminding you where to put your hands.
It shouldn't matter. Any head should fit on any shaft
it should be about a yard a little shorter if you play attack
STX AL6000 Attack Lacrosse Shaft SportStop.com price: $14.95
a lax shaft for children under 5ft. should range about 3 - 4.5 ft. if u are over 5ft the top of your shaft should be up and right over your hips
The maverick phoenix is the better shaft it has the hights strength to weight ratio and has an amazing grip
The shaft in lacrosse is the stick part. The butt is the rubber stopper on the end of the stick. The head is the plastic part which has the pocket. The shaft is the part of the stick where you hold it.
Wrap tape around the top of the shaft to however much more thicker you need. The best tape to use is electrical.
I would say the Reebok 10K O-tech shaft because it has 5 holes in it which reduce drag for a faster shot, shaft material is strong, and has good grip.
You can use a hack saw to trim a lacrosse stick
