In Volleyball the term "Fishing" is when someone brings their hands together to 'bump' a ball and in the process motions their hands in a arc, throwing their hands in front of themselves, this is what 'not to do.' The proper way to position your arms and hands is to fist one of your hands and than grab the fisted hand with your other hand, making sure not to cross your thumbs and than with both your hands locked together make a straight line from where your fisted hands are to the downward V shape that you make when preparing to 'bump' a ball.
