Urmm..skating shoes are the best for skateboarding no doubt..but..ive tried converse ...theyre not that bad....u wont get the same grip as u wud get from the skating shoes though
I would use vans or dc shoes for street skating especially if you are wanting to get serious about it. also nike makes a good street shoe. but it is really what is comfortable with you and what you are comfortable skating in. but all these shoes have a different grip so pick the one that you really are comforable skating in.
The difference in between a cordwainer and a cobbler is that a cobbler repaired shoes where a cordwainer or a shoemaker worked with new leathers and made the shoes.
The price?
The difference is the weight. Soccer shoes are way lighter than football shoes.
