Simple!! they defending ___________-they are jenerally on the back line in front of the goalkeeper some defenders may press up to the half way line when attack is in motion if the team is playing a very attacking gamebut they mostly play the ball to others and defend the goal.

Right back and left back though. they tend to play as defending wingers
