The 1985 Big East with three of the 4 finalists. Georgetown, St. John's, Villanova, and Memphis. Memphis ended up not even being credited as they had issues that made the NCAA vacate their appearence. Villanova won it all and still remains the lowest seed (#8) to win it all.

As the name suggests, there are 4 teams and therefore 2 games in the Final Four. The winner of those 2 games then play for the championship.
The Final Four is present in college basketball. The March madness tournament consists of 65 teams then gets down to 64 teams, then to 32 then to 16 then to 8 then to 4. Those last four teams are considered the final four and are in the semi finals for the title of national champion of college basketball for that year. This year the final four is going to be played in Detroit, and while march madness is going on, soon enough there will be only four teams left, known as the final four.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) Conference Finals are the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA), a major professional basketball league in North America. The NBA was founded in 1946 as the Basketball Association of America (BAA). The league adopted its current name at the start of 1949-1950 season when it merged with the National Basketball League (NBL). The league currently consists of thirty teams, of which twenty-nine are located in the United States and one in Canada. Each team plays 82 games in the regular season. After the regular season, eight teams from each of the league's two conferences qualified for the playoffs. The final two teams in the conference playoffs will play each other in the Conference Final, to determine the conference champion who will play in the NBA Finals.
There are 32 games for each conference. Then when there are 16 teams left, they all play each other until there are 8 teams. Then the 8 teams play for the final 4. And then the final 4 play, and the final 2 play for the Championship.
