Best Answer

Running towards a gap where no players are standing, so that a ball passed into that gap can be trapped easily. This lowers the chances of the ball being intercepted by the opposing team or of an opponent being near enough to tackle once the pass is trapped, but raises the chances of the ball being lost over the side or backline, or of being collected by the opposing team's backs.
