Which should I do tumbling or recreational gymnastics and in recreational gymnastics does the floor routine involve tumbling and if so should I take tumbling first?

yes the floor excersise involves lots of tumbling. If you have never done gymnastics before I would recommend doing a recreational gymmnastics class and taking tumbling in addition to that if you can. But if you can't, rec gymnastics would be the best choice because you will learn new skills on all the events. Plus, you will get lots of tumbling practice in the class, too. Good luck!

Unfortunately there are no gymnastics clubs that are free in Bronx, New York but, if you are looking for cheap gymnastics instruction or for joining a team or recreational your local YMCA should have a program for that.

What is the difference between recreational gymnastics and levels?

In recreational gymnastics, you don't compete and just do it for fun and to stay fit, but when you compete, you're on Team gymnastics and you have different levels that you compete in for different skills. From levels 1-6, you compete compulsory routines- that the USA Gymnastics have made up, but when you get to level 7-10, you make up your own routines. After level 10, you're considered to be elite.

Gymnastics is a stressful sport?

It's all in how you do it. I don't personally have experience with competitive gymnastics, but considering its often a 20-hour/week thing, I would imagine it is. I did recreational gymnastics for 10 years, 1-4 hours a week, and I didn't find it stressful, because I was free to go at my own pace.

Will being tall make gymnastics hard for you?

Most say that being taller can affect your skills with gymnastics. This is only half true. Most men are taller than women, and they compete in the Olympics. Every body is different, and each (being tall and small) has its advantages. If you want to try competitive gymnastics, sometimes being tall will make it tough. Sometimes you may be moved up a division due to your height. If you are doing recreational gymnastics, it will not affect you much at all.
