I believe that you are allowed to have your mask different colors. I know many fencers who have different colored masks. You can buy them from different companies. I have seen red and white as mask colors.

It depends on the type of fencing you want to do (foil sabar or eppe) most people start out with foil but i would recomend you go to a club and try out all 3 before buying equipment. There are lots of things to buy including body cords, a mask, mask cords, a glove, a lame, a jacket ect.

Yes, you can wash it.You can wash all of it. Just shove it in a washer at cold temperature and air dry it. EXCEPT the mask. Including the mask, except. You place ONLY the mask in the dish washer, WITHOUT soap (unless you want soap stinging your eyes for the rest of the time you own that mask). I am not sure what cycle you need to use. I just use the normal one.
