Depends on where, when, how long, and how deep yopu want to go. A short while, in fairly warm water - just hold your breath and go under. Swimming goggles or a diving mask will let you see better.
A longer stay just below the surface, use a mask and a snorkel. If water gets cold, use a wetsuit, or a dry suit if it's really bad.
If you want to go deeper, use Scuba gear.

Some domesticated ducks only need water to preen in, not to swim in , but yes; wild ducks do need water to swim in.
Because there is something of how they breath they need to swim to breath

you just need to have confidence and cup your hands when you swim move your legs as fast as you can and that should do it.

Some infants can swim but they always need someone with them at all times. Also they need a special swim instrutor who helps them and give the ok. Never try to teach an infant to swim without qualifed supervison.
