The RPI (Ratings Pecentage Index) is a complex formula used to rank NCAA Division I Basketball teams

A simplified estimate would be

25% is based on a team's winning percentage (with road games weighted about twice as heavily as road games), 50% is based on that team's opponents' win% (unweighted), and 25% based on the opponents' opponents' win% (also unweighted).

Teams are given a numerical score, and then ranked 1-347, with 1 being the best.
