Forms, or kata, are used as a training tool. They are primarily to teach techniques, which can be practiced alone. Repetition builds up strength and creates muscle memory. Once the techniques become automatic with little thought needed to do them, you start to learn the application of the kata to a combat situation.

Basic techniques include blocks, punches, kicks, stances and transitions between stances.

Advanced techniques include combinations of basic techniques that will break opponent's limbs, injury or kill.
