That is a normal fear when batting.
Basically, there are two things you can do. Continue to bat and get over the fear or quit the game.
An unfortunate part of Baseball, as with all sports, is injury. Some injuries in baseball occur when a batter is hit with a pitched ball. It is part of the game, just like home runs and strikeouts and stealing a base. To be able to perform at your best you must accept this fact.
There are two ways of getting over this fear. One is to have someone pitch inside to you. You can become accustomed to seeing the pitch go by very close to your body and will even learn how to hit some of those pitches. The second way is to be hit by a pitched ball. It will hurt, you may even cry (don't let anybody tell you there is no crying in baseball), but you will get over it quickly. Bruises last only a few days, the fun that comes from playing baseball can last a lifetime. And you will find out that you can be hit by a pitch and not have to be taken out of the game.
Talk to your friends, talk to your coaches, tell people of this fear you have. It is a normal fear, one that many of the greatest that ever played had.

No the golf ball was designed to be hit hard. Why would a hammer produce a result different than being hit by a golf club?
