The myth is that an injury could stunt your growth if your bones are still growing, but there is little to back this up. According to Mark Rippetoe, there are a total of 6 cases of growth plate fracture in the entire body of literature, and it is highly questionable how they even occurred. Furthermore, there were no long-term consequences of that injury, meaning there was no stunting of growth.

It is encouraged to begin training as soon as you can pick up a bar. The benefits of strength training far outweigh the risks.
